Tiki Immergés De Papetoai

An underwater artistic exhibition in the lagoon of Moorea
The submerged tiki are volcanic stone sculptures of between 1.50 and 2 meters in height, placed on the seabed in the shallow, clear water at Papetoai. They are the work of the artist, Tihoti GUY from Moorea, who created this display of six tiki in 1998 as a tribute to the Polynesian ancestors who were obliged by missionaries to cast their religious symbols into the sea. Several lagoon excursions will take you there, but you can also visit the site on your own by kayak, paddleboard or boat. However, it's obviously more difficult to locate without a guide.
