HOLOPUNI VA’A HAWAIKI NUI VOYAGE

Attend the 11th edition

Holopuni Va’a Hawaiki Nui Voyage is an offshore sailing canoe race/raid between the islands of Tahiti, Moorea, Huahine, Raiatea, Tahaa, and Bora Bora. The canoes used are of the Holopuni class/grade: a double outrigger canoe with three crew members. It is propelled by the wind and by arm strength. Only an unattached oar is allowed to steer (no rudder).

This voyage is a revival of the journeys undertaken by our Polynesian ancestors who travelled from island to island in an outrigger sailing canoe. Although built with modern materials, the spirit of canoe sailing remains. This challenge provides strong emotional and physical sensations.
The 11th edition will also be part of the Tahiti Pearl Regatta (TPR) event during the Raiatea/Tahaa leg. This will allow us to diversify our trip by offering something more, especially to our regulars (local and foreigners).
In addition to the 3 legs of the TPR, the Hawaiki Nui Voyage has 2 legs (Tahiti-Moorea and Huahine-Raiatea). The other legs will be in raid mode (Moorea-Huahine, Raiatea-Tahaa, and Tahaa-Bora Bora).
The five races will give rise to a final ranking. Note: a crew can register in the “cruising” category (not necessarily  racing).
