There are many activities for you to try in the Austral Islands, whether you’re young or old, in a group or on your own. Discover the superb craftsmanship for which the islands are famous. Tour the archipelago and visit the craft workshops in the islands where you’ll find magnificent hats, baskets and mats, woven from pandanus leaves. Stroll through taro fields, or go on guided hiking tours to see the sights and the sites. Go whale-watching (from July to November), which you can even do without getting into a boat, from the coastal route on the island of Rurutu.
