TAHITI TOURISME APPOINTS DEVELOPMENT COUNSELLORS INTERNATIONAL AS AGENCY OF RECORD IN CANADA
TORONTO, ON (April 4, 2017) – Tahiti Tourisme, the destination marketing office for French Polynesia, marketed as The Islands of Tahiti, has appointed Development Counsellors International (DCI) as its Agency of Record (AOR) in Canada.
DCI will increase awareness of The Islands of Tahiti among consumers through media relations, digital marketing and consumer activations. The agency will also focus on increasing distribution and facilitating sales in partnership with tour operators, airlines and travel agents. Tahiti Tourisme’s “Embraced by Mana” global destination campaign will be leveraged in all marketing outreach. Launched in 2016, this unique campaign reinforces the connection between all living things and celebrates the authentic experiences found only in The Islands of Tahiti.
“We are thrilled to finally have an in-market Canadian representative to bring the spirit of Mana directly to consumers,” said Gina Bunton, Chief Operations Officer, Tahiti Tourisme Head Office. “DCI’s extensive experience in marketing destinations to Canadian consumers and travel trade will enhance our efforts to position The Islands of Tahiti as a top travel destination and increase visitor arrivals to our many Islands.”
Only an eight-hour flight from Los Angeles, visitors to The Islands of Tahiti in the heart of the Pacific, discover a rich heritage and culture, iconic beauty and a variety of experiences, from unique resorts with overwater bungalows to guest houses offering a truly local experience, to scuba diving, hiking trails that extend from pristine white-sand beaches to fern-lined valleys lush with waterfalls. From the well-known Society Islands to the lesser known Tuamotu, Marquesas, Austral or Gambier islands, the 118 Islands and atolls cover more than two million square miles of the South Pacific Ocean.
“Our research shows that there is both a lack of awareness and pent-up demand in the Canadian market for the types of cultural experiences that await in The Islands of Tahiti,” noted Karyl Leigh Barnes, Managing Partner of DCI’s Tourism Practice. “Our strategy to stimulate awareness and bookings will be customized to engage both English and French-speaking Canadian travelers.”
