Tahiti Tourisme North America (TTNA) is the DMO (Destination Marketing Office) for French Polynesia, more commonly known as “The Islands of Tahiti.” As the DMO for The Islands of Tahiti, this office oversees all marketing, advertising, public relations, promotions, events, and travel agent programs conducted in the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. TTNA liaises with airline, cruise line, hotel, resort, tour operator, travel advisor and consortia partners to develop product, launch marketing initiatives, and generate robust tourism trade within French Polynesia.  With a small staff, the company’s team-based environment allows each employee the opportunity to manage their various roles and duties while remaining involved and available for other areas of business initiatives. This creates an efficient, highly interactive, support driven environment encouraging effective results for the French Polynesia tourism industry at large.

Position Description

Job Title: Trade & Marketing Associate; Reports To: Managing Director & Senior Director of Trade & Promotions

SUMMARY:

Primary representative and first point of contact for all travel advisor related business in both English- and French-speaking Canada. Manage the destination specialist program and membership at the Canada market level. Attend and support business opportunities, which include presentations, promotional events, tradeshows, familiarization trips, travel advisor consortia events, and special events sponsored by TTNA, partners, and/or travel aadvisors. Focus on business development initiatives, including destination training for retail travel advisors, Partners, and/or consumers.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Identify and build relationships with key trade partners and work with them in the implementation of marketing and promotional programs
  • Work with Senior Director of Promotions & Trade to develop and execute training and event schedule
  • Represent the destination at in-market industry marketing and trade forums, sales meetings, and trade/consumer shows
  • Oversee the Tahiti Specialist Platform, the destination specialist program for Canadian retail travel advisors
  • Manage and implement front-line training for travel wholesalers and retailers
  • Work with Managing Director on Co-Op Programs with Travel Trade
  • Support Communications Director on proper messaging for Canadian audiences for TTNA’s suite of communications, including, but not limited to Partner Updates, Industry Updates, Public Relations Update, and Tour Operator Package e-mail blasts

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of four years of college and four-six years experience working with Canadian travel trade combination of education and experience in travel, tourism and business field
  • Resident of Toronto, ONT, preferred
  • Fluent in both French and English
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Powerpoint, Word, Excel)
  • Must possess legal authorization to work in Canada at time of application
